The Daughters of the Immaculata is a religious community of women founded to follow the example of our patron and father in faith, St. Maximilian Kolbe and is lived out within the framework of the Militia Immaculata.
CHARISM OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE IMMACULATA
The Holy Spirit has entrusted a special charism for the Church to The Daughters of the Immaculata:
Under the mantle of Our Lady, the Immaculata, and after the example of St. Maximilian Kolbe, to extend as far as possible the blessed Kingdom of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus to every soul in the world. Our particular mandate is to be carried out in a trinity of “P’s”:
1. Prayer
2. Promotion
3. Participation
Prayer: for ourselves, our community, our families, our country, our world, and our Church, with a special remembrance of priests;
Promotion: of Marian Consecration in the Militia Immaculata. We are personally consecrated and we encourage others to do likewise by disseminating information through the various venues of the media;
Participation: “rendering to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21), we follow and participate in current events and make the voice of the Church heard in matters affecting our country and the world. We are active in the public forum.
True to our name and Kolbean charism, we pledge our lives, our possessions and all our good actions to Mary Immaculate. We live lives of self-sacrifice, love for God and neighbor.
Formation consists of a 1 year postulancy program in which single Catholic women can come and live our life of work and prayer which involves a limited commitment to the community and 1 year novitiate at which time one becomes a member of the community. After this period vows are professed on an annual, temporary basis. After
3-5 years, perpetual final vows are professed.
We wear religious garb in order to make public our witness to Jesus Christ and we take religious names, bringing to the world an orthodoxy which has disappeared in many places over the last 4 decades. We are totally in communion with Rome and ALL the doctrines the Roman Catholic Church teaches in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Our Sisters adore before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament each day. Prayer furnishes the basis and strength for all of our other activities. We work in various aspects of the apostolate of spreading devotion to Mary Immaculate, St. Maximilian Kolbe and the Militia Immaculata. We assist in various apostolates at Marytown, the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Libertyville, IL. We have a special emphasis on combatting the enemies of the Catholic Church. This is demonstrated in prayer groups which bring the People of God together to pray and actively work toward the victory of Christ, and in using modern media techniques to evangelize.. We also pray daily for priests, knowing they are special targets of the Enemy.
Because we are a new community and in the process of seeking diocesan approval, our candidates and members must be women of strong pioneering spirit and great flexibility! This is new ground and a true challenge, though immensely exciting and rewarding to those who can contribute their talents and efforts.
Single Catholic women seeking to follow Christ in a commitment to prayer, humility, and joy, and who want to win souls for the Sacred Heart of Jesus through His Immaculate Mother are encouraged to contact us at the address or e-mail below.
